WORK WITH ME

MID-CAREER SINGLE MOMS

ARE YOU SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILDREN, AND

PASSED OVER FOR PROMOTIONS YOU KNOW YOU’VE EARNED?

WHAT A WAY TO START 2020

You are simultaneously seeking promotions to better yourself, and successfully manage a huge financial and emotional responsibility, at a time when the country is politically divided. We’re at odds with each other over our personal and institutional values, and struggling with gender issues and conflictive religious beliefs.

And overarching all of that is serious talk of a possibility of a recession in 2020. . .

If you’re worried about your future because decision-makers are ignoring you for work you’ve proven you can do, or promotions you know should be yours, I can help you STAND OUT and win interviews as the TOP CANDIDATE each time you apply – when you follow a system that works and apply where it makes sense for you to apply.

If you’re qualified for the promotions or jobs you seek and you’re not winning interviews for opportunities you know are right for you, both the problem and the solution lie with how you are presenting yourself.

If you’re supporting your application for promotion with the same traditional generic, two-page reverse-chronological résumé, the one that looks like everyone else’s (or worse – using no résumé at all), you are BLENDING IN like strands of spaghetti on a plate, when you should be STANDING OUT, like a meatball on spaghetti.

You’re not giving decision-makers any reason to interview you.

TOP CANDIDATE custom résumés and targeted cover letters, based on the specific requirements of the opportunities you seek, will not only make decision-makers know you exist, they will eagerly call you for interviews.

WHY I’VE EARNED THE RIGHT TO ADVISE YOU

For over 30 years I’ve been helping promotion- and job-seekers create interesting, memorable STAND OUT custom résumés that grabbed decision-makers’ attention and won interviews.

And for 18 years of those years, I was an HR decision-maker in Corporate America, responsible for recruiting, hiring and promotions.

I know both sides of the desk.

When I first started my career as a personnel director in Marriott Hotels, I received résumés from all levels of job seekers, many of whom self-identified as single moms. I could imagine the anxiety and worry they felt for themselves, their children and their futures.

It saddened me when applicants gave me the impression of good-hearted competency and a strong work ethic unintentionally hid their competency by using generic, unfocused résumés that gave me no reason to interview them.

Sometimes I called to offer résumé feedback and suggestions, but the people I invited in for interviews and ultimately hired were those whose résumés were relevant to the promotion or opportunity they sought.

They STOOD OUT, like a meatball on a plate of generic spaghetti.

I know the résumés and cover letters that impress get decision-makers and get them to call an applicant for an interview.

If you’re a single mom and thinking about how you’d provide for your children, and how long it would take you win interviews and get hired at your current salary if you got laid off, has you worried and feeling jammed between a rock and a hard place, my heart goes out to you.

I know what you’re going through, not as a mom but as a responsible father, because I’ve faced that worry.

Over 15 months, at the mid-point of my career, I:

1. Went through a financially and emotionally devastating divorce. Just before the judge made his alimony ruling, he went on record stating that he and my ex were friends from church, but assured me he could still render an impartial decision.

His “impartial” decision was that, since we had been married 15 years, I would pay alimony for 15 years, in addition to child support for my two children and going halves on everything else. My sense of “victim” exploded.

2. Was transferred 1,200 miles away from my kids

3. Was recruited and relocated back to within 60 miles of them, and

4. Was laid off seven months into the new job when Corporate decided to shut down my division.

Job or no job, the alimony and CS obligation remained. With limited savings and no clue how I was going to meet my legal obligations, my inner game hit rock-bottom and I started to panic.

With the layoff came outplacement, and following the counsellor’s generic advice, I created a generic two-page, reverse-chronological résumé that he said was wonderful. Over the next six months, decision-makers ignored that “wonderful résumé” over 300 time. I went on three interviews and got no offers.

My savings, feelings of “Victim” and job search self-confidence rocketed downward.

My Inner Game was a mess.

After that third interview I realized decision-makers were treating my generic, “Boilerplate Herd” résumé as “job search junk mail.” I was invisible and was making it easy for them to ignore me for work I’d proven I could do.

With that realization pounding in my head, I immediately stopped sending out that résumé, and within a week I created:

1) A custom résumé based 100% on the accomplishments of which I was most proud – the ones that brought me joy,

2) A cover letter with an intriguing value proposition, and

3) A unique job search strategy that immediately won me interviews with 20 CEOs.

Thanks to my reenergized Inner Game, I had the job search self-confidence to create and use my new custom résumé and job search strategy.

My new credentials made me the STAND OUT MEATBALL on a plate of generic spaghetti.

By creating a job for myself doing work I loved and receiving paid relocation from back-east to the Pacific Northwest, my Inner Game soared.

I became the hero of my own quest as I got my financial and emotional life back on track .

Perhaps I can help you become the heroine of your career – yes?

YOU!

THE HEROINE OF YOUR CAREER

IF YOU’RE STARTING TO FREAK, YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

If you’re starting to freak and you’re a single mom and the sole support for your children, good at your job, and decision-makers ignore you for promotions you know should be yours, know this: THERE IS A STRAIGHTFORWARD, COMMON-SENSE PROVEN SYSTEM YOU CAN MASTER TO WIN INTERVIEWS AS THE “TOP CANDIDATE” EACH TIME YOU APPLY. It’s not cookie-cutter and it will require energy, time and thought. But if you follow the system as I’ll present it to you, YOU WILL WIN INTERVIEWS.

I started my TOP CANDIDATE custom résumé and targeted cover letter business to help people like you.

That custom résumé I had the courage to send to those 20 CEOs was the foundation of this course – BE THE MEATBALL – Top Candidate Custom Résumés to Win Interviews for the Promotions You Deserve. The results surprised me and I did not realize it until later, but what I had done was find a CEO’s need that was going unmet and presented myself as the custom solution to that need. I created a job for myself and have taught countless others to use this “create a job for yourself” strategy. During my 18 years in Corporate America, I used it three times – each time for a promotion or new job of my own creation, and always for more money. I’ll share the details during the course.
